The National Healthcare Group's flagship hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), is a component of Singapore's public healthcare system. TTSH is known as the People's Hospital and serves 1.4 million residents of Central Singapore as a pioneering hospital with deep roots in the community dating back 178 years. As an integrated care organisation called Central Health, it extends care outside of the hospital to the community with the help of 70 community partners and 80 community health posts. With more than 1700 beds and centres of excellence like the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Institute for Geriatrics & Active Ageing (IGA), NHG Eye Institute (NHGEI), and TTSH Rehabilitation Centre, TTSH is one of the largest multidisciplinary hospitals in Singapore. In 2023, the 600-bed Integrated Care Hub at TTSH will be able to offer subacute care and rehabilitation. The Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI), Singapore's largest purpose-built innovation centre for healthcare, and its Co-Learning Network of 37 local and international partners are housed at TTSH as a leader in population health, systems innovation, health technologies, and workforce transformation.

Dr. Chia graduated from the National University of Singapore with a basic medical degree in 2000 and a Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2005. In 2009, he finished his advanced training in cardiology and was admitted as a fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine. At St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, Dr. Chia completed a one-year Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing in 2011 with assistance from the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Plan. In 2016, the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) awarded him Fellowship. Dr. Chia has been designated an adjunct associate professor by the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and an adjunct associate professor by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in honour of his contributions to medical student teaching. At the moment, Dr. Chia serves as Senior Consultant and Head of the Cardiology Division at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore. He oversees the services for cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia, and pacing. His areas of expertise are cardiac implantable electronic devices and arrhythmias, and he has written significantly in these fields for national and international medical journals. Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Intensivist A/Prof Chia Yew Woon is in charge of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore. Due to his fellowship training at Australia's The Alfred Hospital ICU, a quaternary referral centre, he is one of the rare doctors with dual training in cardiology and intensive care medicine. He has been directing instructional efforts in critical care ultrasonography and has a keen interest in haemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support, post-cardiac arrest management, and these areas. Additionally, he has participated in a great deal of clinical research and serves as the national investigator for Singapore for several multi-center trials in cardiac critical care. He oversees undergraduate medical education in cardiology, as well as the internal medicine residency programme, the cardiology senior residency programme, and the intensive care medicine subspecialty training committee for post-graduate medical training. In the field of education, he has received numerous Best Teacher and Top Ten Teacher Awards. He currently holds the positions of Chair of the Singapore National Targeted Temperature Management Workgroup, Vice-President of the Singapore Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Board Member of the Chapter of Intensivists, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
