VITREO RETINAL PROCEDURES Intravitreal Injection Eyelea:
Eylea is a prescription medication used to treat Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Macular Edema symptoms. Eylea can be used alone or in combination with other drugs.
Eylea has been demonstrated to prevent the formation of new aberrant blood vessels in the eye, which leak fluid or bleed often. Eylea can assist to stabilise and improve vision loss caused by wet AMD, CRVO, BRVO, DME, and myopic CNV in many situations.
Disease Overview:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
AMD (age-related macular degeneration) is an eye condition that causes central vision blurring. It occurs when the macula — the region of the eye that regulates crisp, straight-ahead vision — is damaged as a result of ageing. The macula is located in the centre of the retina (the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye).
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Vision that is hazy or blurred.
- Recognizing familiar faces is difficult.
- Lines that are supposed to be straight seem wavy.
- In the centre of vision, a dark, empty space or blind spot emerges.
- Central vision loss, which is required for driving, reading, recognising faces, and close-up work.
Disease Causes:
Dry AMD is characterised by the formation of tiny yellow deposits called drusen underneath the retina. These are the retina's collected waste products, which can expand in size. This can cause the light-processing retinal cells in the macula to die, resulting in impaired vision.
Disease Diagnosis:
- An Amsler grid is a visual field test that consists of a grid of straight lines with a huge dot in the centre.
- Eye drops dilate (or enlarge) your pupils during a dilated eye test.
- Fluorescein angiography: A yellow dye called fluorescein is injected into a vein in your arm by your healthcare professional.
