Penectomy Total Without Lymphadenectomy Bilateral

A penectomy is a procedure that involves the removal of all or part of the penis. This type of surgery is typically performed as part of the treatment for penile cancer.

Lymphadenectomy may be divided into three categories. The lymph nodes nearest to the cancer cause are the focus of a modified or restricted operation. A complete or radical operation involves removing all lymph nodes from a specific area of the body (most commonly the armpit, neck, pelvis, or groin).

Disease Overview:

Penile cancer

Penile cancer, also known as penile cancer, occurs when cells on or in a man's penis grow out of control. It usually begins in skin cells and spreads throughout the body.

It's really uncommon. It can, however, be treated, especially if caught early.

Penile cancer can take several forms, including:

  • Squamous cell or epidermoid carcinoma are two types of skin cancer. This accounts for 95% of all incidences of penile cancer. It normally begins on or behind your foreskin, but it can spread to other areas of your penis.
  • Sarcoma. Cancers of the blood vessels, muscle, and fat originate in these tissues.
  • Melanoma. This type of cancer begins in the cells that give your skin its pigment.
  • Basal cell carcinoma is a kind of cancer that affects the skin. These tumours begin deep within the skin. They take a long time to grow and are unlikely to spread to other parts of your body.

Disease Signs and Symptoms:

The most prevalent sign of penile cancer is changes in the skin of the penis. They can appear on uncircumcised men's foreskin, the penis tip (the glans), or the shaft.

  • The following are some of the signs and symptoms of penile cancer:
  • Skin thickness or colour changes
  • It may appear as a rash or little crusty lumps on your penis, similar to an unhealed scab.
  • bluish-brown-colored growths
  • You have a bump on your penis.
  • Underneath your foreskin, a foul-smelling discharge
  • A painful sore on your penis that may leak
  • Your penis is swollen at the end.
  • Your groyne has lumps under the skin.

These symptoms aren't usually indicative of penile cancer. You might be suffering from an illness or an allergic response. However, any unexpected symptoms on or around your penis should be reported to your doctor straight away.

Disease Causes:

Experts are baffled as to what causes penile cancer. According to research, it's more likely among males who:

  • If you been infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)
  • If you are above the age of 60
  • Smoke
  • Because of HIV or AIDS, you have a compromised immune system.
  • They haven't been circumcised. Fluids and a thick accumulation known as smegma can gather under your foreskin, increasing the risk of cancer growth.
  • Have phimosis, a condition that makes your foreskin tight and difficult to clean. It can also cause fluid accumulation.
  • Psoriasis therapy included the use of the medication psoralen as well as ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Disease Diagnosis:

Your doctor will examine you and ask you questions about your symptoms. They may suggest additional testing, such as:

  • A biopsy is a procedure that involves taking a sample of A little sample of tissue from a skin lesion on your penis is taken by your doctor. It is subjected to laboratory tests to see if it contains cancer cells.
  • X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, and magnetic resonance imaging are examples of imaging tests (MRI). These examine your inside organs for malignancies or other symptoms of cancer spread.

Disease Treatment

If your cancer is still in its early stages, you may receive the following treatments:

A lotion for your skin that contains medicine.

Cryotherapy is a process that freezes and destroys malignant cells using a very cold liquid or gadget.

Doctors remove damaged skin one layer at a time until they reach healthy tissue in Mohs surgery.

Lasers are used to cut and remove cancerous tissues.

Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin. If you simply had cancer in your foreskin, you would have this operation.

You may also have if your cancer is more advanced or prone to spread:

If your cancer has progressed to your groyne, you may need surgery to remove some or all of the lymph nodes.

To get rid of cancer cells, you'll need radiation and/or chemotherapy.

A penectomy is a procedure in which part or all of your penis is removed.

Chemotherapy and radiation may have an impact on your ability to have sex if you have early-stage penile cancer. Consult your doctor about any potential adverse effects.
