Package Description
ORBIT AND OCULOPLASTY DCR with Intubation
A dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is a procedure that establishes a new drainage channel for tears between your eyes and nose. If your tear duct becomes clogged, surgery may be required.
Membranous blockage is the most prevalent reason of unsuccessful endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). Intubation of the lacrimal silicone tube is an excellent therapy for functional epiphora.
External DCR - Is the most frequent procedure for clogged tear ducts, with a success rate of more than 90%.
The most frequent method of intubation is to place a silicone stent in the lacrimal airways. The silicone stent keeps the passageways open where it's placed, and it's also thought to help tissue to recover around it, ensuring lacrimal patency.
Disease Overview:
Persistent NLDO (Nasolacrimal duct obstruction)
A history of chronic or intermittent tearing and debris on the eyelashes is common in infants with congenital nasolacrimal duct blockage (NLDO). Although discomfort from excessive tears and continuous rubbing of the eyes might induce modest redness of the lower and upper eyelids, conjunctival erythema is not common.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
The most prevalent symptoms of NLDO include increased tear lake, epiphora, and fluorescein pooling. Patients frequently carry tissues with them at all times, and excessive tissue use can cause periocular redness.
Disease Causes:
Mid-face fractures are a typical cause of NLDO in unintentional trauma due to edematous compression. Naso-orbito-ethmoidal fractures can cause an inflammatory and cicatrizing response in the nasolacrimal duct. Chronic fibrosis, scarring, and chronic NLDO are all possible outcomes of these traumas.
Disease Diagnosis:
The diagnosis of NLDO is usually made based on the patient's medical history and physical examination. A diagnostic sign for an NLDO is the reflux of mucinous discharge after probing of the lacrimal sac. To diagnose NLDO, a dye disappearance test might be used.
Disease Treatment:
The basic therapy for simple nasolacrimal duct blockage (NLDO) is a regimen of nasolacrimal massage, generally 2 to 3 times per day, followed by lid washing with warm water and topical antibiotics; in 76 percent to 89 percent of cases, this will clear the illness.
