Package Description
GLAUCOMA PROCEDURES Cyclocryotherapy:
Cyclocryotherapy (CCT) is a process in which the ciliary body, an organ in the anterior chamber of the eye, is destroyed using temperatures as low as -112°F (-80°C). The iris is a gland in the eye that generates aqueous fluid. Although a certain amount of fluid is essential to keep the eye healthy, an increase in intraocular fluid causes an increase in intraocular pressure (IOP), which is a significant cause of glaucoma. Ablation, or destruction, of a portion of the ciliary body decreases IOP by reducing the amount of fluid or aqueous humour in the eye, which aids in glaucoma treatment. CCT is used to treat glaucoma that is uncontrolled or refractory. In certain individuals with end-stage glaucoma, it is also used to relieve ocular discomfort.
Disease Overview:
Refractory glaucoma
Uncontrolled intraocular pressure with evidence of optic nerve and/or visual field deterioration, despite maximally tolerated anti-glaucoma medications (topical and/or systemic), previously failed non-seton surgical treatment, or a combination of surgery and medications, is referred to as refractory glaucoma.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Bad headache.
- Pain in the eyes.
- Nausea and vomiting are common side effects.
- hazy Vision.
- Lights have halo effects.
- Redness in the eyes.
Disease Causes:
- Drainage in your eye is obstructed or hindered.
- Corticosteroids, for example, are a kind of pharmaceutical.
- Your optic nerve may have weak or decreased blood supply.
- Blood pressure that is too high or too low.
Disease Treatment:
MIGS operations are less risky than more severe glaucoma surgeries like trabeculectomy or tube shunting, which are usually reserved for patients with advanced glaucoma. A past MIGS surgery has no bearing on the necessity for more aggressive glaucoma therapy in the future.
