Package Description
DIAGNOSTICS Both Eye Automated Perimetry:
The automated perimetry test evaluates a person's visual field using a computer software. You will sit in a dome-shaped apparatus and gaze into it. Throughout the test, your doctor will advise you to gaze at an item in the centre of the dome. On the dome, there will be little bursts of light.
Glaucoma, which can damage the visual nerve, is the most widely addressed condition in Perimetry. Macular degeneration, optic glicoma, brain tumour, stroke, central nervous system problem, and pituitary gland issue are all diagnosed with the Perimetry test.
Disease Overview:
Nerve damage from glaucoma
The injury to the optic nerve causes glaucoma. Blind patches form in your vision field when this nerve deteriorates. This nerve injury is frequently linked to increased ocular pressure for reasons that doctors don't completely understand.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Bad headache.
- Pain in the eyes.
- Nausea and vomiting are common side effects.
- Vision is hazy.
- Lights have halo effects.
- Redness in the eyes
Disease Causes:
The most prevalent kind of glaucoma is open-angle glaucoma. The trabecular meshwork is partially occluded, yet the drainage angle produced by the cornea and iris remains open. As a result, the pressure in the eye steadily rises. The optic nerve is harmed by this pressure.
Disease Diagnosis:
Glaucoma examinations are painless and take only a few minutes. Your vision will be tested by your eye doctor. Drops will be used to dilate (widen) your pupils and inspect your eyes.
They'll look for evidence of glaucoma in your optic nerve. They may take photos in order to detect changes at your next appointment. To examine your eye pressure, they'll do a tonometry test. A visual field test may be performed to determine if you have lost peripheral vision.
Your doctor may request specific imaging tests of your optic nerve if they believe you have glaucoma.
Disease Treatment:
Glaucoma examinations are painless and take only a few minutes. Your vision will be tested by your eye doctor. Drops will be used to dilate (widen) your pupils and inspect your eyes.
To relieve the pressure in your eye, your doctor may use prescription eye drops, oral medicines, laser surgery, or microsurgery.
Drops for the eyes. These either reduce or enhance the flow of fluid out of your eye, decreasing ocular pressure. Allergies, redness, stinging, impaired vision, and irritated eyes are all possible side effects. Some glaucoma medications might harm your heart and lungs. Because of the risk of drug interactions, inform your doctor about any other medical conditions you may have or drugs you are taking.
Also, let them know if following a regimen containing two or three different eye drops is difficult for you, or if there are any negative effects. They might be able to make a difference in your therapy.
Medications used orally. Your doctor may also prescribe an oral drug, such as a beta-blocker or a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, for you to take. These medications can help with drainage or slow the production of fluid in the eye.
Laser surgery: If you have open-angle glaucoma, this operation can help to increase the flow of fluid out of your eye. If you have angle-closure glaucoma, it can help you avoid fluid obstruction. The following are some of the procedures:
Trabeculoplasty.
Iridotomy. This creates a small hole in your iris, allowing fluid to flow freely.
Cyclophotocoagulation. This treatment reduces fluid production in the central layer of your eye.
Microsurgery. A trabeculectomy is a treatment in which your doctor builds a new channel to drain fluid and relieve eye strain. It's possible that this type of surgery will need to be repeated. A tube may be implanted by your doctor to aid in the drainage of fluid. This procedure can result in eyesight loss that is temporary or permanent, as well as bleeding or infection.
