Dr. Rakesh Rai Sapra

Since September 2014, Dr. Rakesh Sapra has served as Director of Cardiology at QRG Hospital. Prior to this, he spent nearly 5 years as the Head of Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Hospital in Faridabad (2010-2014). For three years, he was also the Head of Cardiology at Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon (2007-2010). Dr. Sapra graduated from Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in medicine. In 1993, he received his MD in Internal Medicine from PGIMER Chandigarh, and in 1996, he received his DM in Cardiology from AIIMS, New Delhi. In the year 200, he received additional training in Cardiac Electrophysiology from Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Sapra has worked in the field of Interventional Cardiology for over 18 years and has a wealth of knowledge. He has conducted approximately 10,000 vascular procedures on his own, including coronary angioplasties, balloon valvotomies, peripheral angioplasties such as renal and carotid angioplasties, and congenital procedures such as PDA and ASD closures. He is passionate about electrophysiology and has conducted a variety of radiofrequency ablations, including sophisticated ablations involving electromagnetic CARTO mapping. He has also implanted a variety of pacing devices, such as implantable defibrillators and biventricular pacemakers (cardiac resynchronization devices). Dr. Sapra has produced numerous publications, research papers, and abstracts, as well as actively participating in research. In 2006, he was also honoured with the Best Case Award at the AICT conference in New Delhi. He is a life member of the Indian Cardiology Society.
