Dr. Ashok Kumar is the Director & Head, Department of Rheumatology. He has a rich and varied experience of 35 years in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology. Dr. Ashok Kumar was Professor of Medicine & Head of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology Service at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi before joining Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj in April 2009. His expertise pertains to rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis/ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, SLE, scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome, polymyositis/dermatomyositis, vasculitis [e.g. GPA (Wegener's), MPA, EGPA, HSP, PAN, GCA] and soft-tissue rheumatism. He imparted training to several Clinical Fellows and senior residents in the subject of Rheumatology. Dr. Ashok Kumar was Professor of Medicine & Head of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology Service at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi before joining Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj in April 2009. He served on the Faculty of AIIMS for 21 years and published numerous research papers.
